China Southern expecting to double profit for 2015

January 29, 2016

BEIJING - China Southern Airlines Co Ltd has released a statement on Wednesday predicting that its net profit rose between 110% and 130% during 2015. If the estimates are accurate, it potentially means that Asia’s largest carrier by fleet number had a possible net profit of more than RMB3.72 billion (considering the company’s 2014 net profit of RMB1.773 billion, or USS269.49 million), according to a report in China Daily.

In the statement, China Southern said it expects revenue to have increased as demand for air travel rose considerably, both at home and to overseas destinations in its growing international network.

Strict cost-control measures, lower fuel prices, and stringent efforts to cut its dollar-denominated debt to reduce the adverse effects of a weakened RMB, it said, will all help its bottom line. www.webershandwick.cn (ATI).
