Asian economies to be stronger for longer, says ANZ

December 8, 2017

SINGAPORE - Growth in Asia in 2017 was powered by the recovery in exports. ANZ Bank expects them to hold up in 2018 – and to feed through into domestic demand.

Core inflation pressures should remain contained, ANZ says. “Nonetheless, selectively, we expect some central banks to take advantage of this period of strong growth to normalise monetary policy.

“Strong growth will anchor Asian currencies, although there should be greater differentiation in performance. Long-dated Asia bonds remain in a good position to withstand a rise in global interest rates.” www.live.anz.com (ATI).
